Attitude

There once was a woman who woke up one morning, looked in the mirror, and noticed she had only three hairs on her head.
“Well,” she said, “I think I’ll braid my hair today.” So she did, and she had a wonderful day. The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and saw that she had only two hairs on her head.
“H-M-M,” she said, “I think I’ll part my hair down the middle today.” So she did, and she had a grand day. The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that she
had only one hair on her head.
“Well,” she said, “today I’m going to wear my hair in a pony tail.  So she did, and she had a fun, fun day. The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that there wasn’t a single hair on her head.
“YEA!” she exclaimed, “I don’t have to fix my hair today!”

Attitude is everything. Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Live simply,

Love generously,

Care deeply,

Speak kindly,

Leave the rest to God

Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass… It’s about learning to dance in the rain.

Great Comebacks

December 29, 2007 at 1:57 pm (Random, Ranting) (, , , , , )

When in England at a fairly large conference, Colin Powell was asked by the Archbishop of Canterbury if our plans for Iraq were just an example of ‘empire building’ by George Bush. He answered by saying, “Over the years, the United States has sent many of its fine young men and women into great peril to fight for freedom beyond our borders. The only amount of land we have ever asked for in return is enough to bury those that did not return.” It became very quiet in the room.
Then there was a conference in France where a number of international engineers were taking part, including French and Americans. During a break one of the French engineers came back into the room saying “Have you heard the latest dumb stunt Bush has done? He has sent an aircraft carrier to Indonesia to help the tsunami victims. What does he intend to do, bomb them?” A Boeing engineer stood up and replied quietly: “Our carriers have three hospitals on board that can treat several hundred people; they are nuclear powered and can supply emergency electrical power to shore facilities; they have three cafeterias
with the capacity to feed 3,000 people three meals a day, they can produce several thousand gallons of fresh water from sea water each day, and they carry half a dozen helicopters for use in transporting victims and injured to and from their flight
deck. We have eleven such ships; how many does France have?” Once again, dead silence.
A U.S. Navy Admiral was attending a naval conference that included Admirals from the U.S., English, Canadian, Australian and French Navies. At a cocktail reception, he found himself standing with a large group of Officers that included personnel from most of those countries. Everyone was chatting away in English as they sipped their drinks but a French admiral suddenly complained that, whereas Europeans learn many languages, Americans learn only English. He then asked, ‘Why is it that we always have to speak English in these conferences rather than speaking French? Without hesitating, the American Admiral replied ‘Maybe it’s because the Brits, Canadians, Aussies and Americans arranged it so you wouldn’t have to speak German. You could have heard a pin drop.

People Pressure

December 3, 2007 at 9:07 pm (Ranting) (, , , , , , , , , )

Have you ever noticed how so many people give into pressure? Well I have! Especially kids in Jr. high and  high school. You wouldn’t believe how much it happens, and what kids will do to “fit in”.  I’ve seen piercings, hair dying, smoking, drugs, clothes, no clothes,  changing their accent, changing their taste in music, and even changing their way of life! Trust me I know…I’ve done some of those things myself. I’ve bought different clothes, I changed my taste in music, and I even changed how I lived my life! But don’t just say that kids fall into pressure, adults do too. Adults give into their kids, work, and friends. Whenever their child, or children, wants something the kid begs, and begs, and begs until the parent gives into the child’s wish. And don’t say that doesn’t happen, because it does! I see it all the time. I’ve even done it a couple of times myself. They even do it at work too. Adults give into their boss even when they don’t have to. i know the feeling of being pressured by other people, or “peer pressure”. If you feel or know, that you have never been pressured by someone to do something then you’re one of the lucky few who haven’t! I hate the feeling of being pressured. It’s a bad feeling, I know. But once you overcome it you feel much better. And for all of you out there who have pressured somebody to do something,(I know you have) shame on you! I should say,” shame on me” too. Because we all have done it! Whether it was to do drugs, or wear your hair differently, WE ALL HAVE DONE IT! To conclude my rant about pressure on people…JUST DON’T DO IT!
